An author is no different from any other brand—he or she can and should be branded. And I wanted that brand to be fun, sharp, and memorable.
So I imagined: What if there were an office of donkeys handling human issues and world problems? Maybe that’s the best way to fix things—maybe donkeys would solve our problems better than we do. Even if they did it only 30% better, that still makes them smarter than us.
People might argue that we’ve come too far as humans. Maybe we have. But the more advanced we become, the more careful we need to be. The smarter we get, the more dangerous we become. Perhaps we need to take a few steps back—become simpler, humbler, even a little naive, like donkeys. Not just smart and arrogant. And definitely not stupid and arrogant—that’s the worst combination.
I won’t dive deep into the stories yet, but I write about war, racism, capitalism, migration, and more. These themes shape my narratives because writing, to me, is the best way to understand the human condition—not to turn a blind eye to it.
Writing builds resilience. It gives me a powerful tool to write (and to fight) with. And for you, the reader, I hope it becomes something empowering, and entertaining too.
